While studying at the University of San Diego for a bachelor's of business administration in real estate and finance, Darren Critchlow took advantage of an opportunity to study abroad at St. Clare's University in Oxford, England. A recipient of the Bishop Maher Leadership Scholarship and Presidential Scholarship, he earned induction into the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. Darren Critchlow was also involved in the university's Finance Association and Accounting Society.

While a student, Mr. Critchlow completed brokerage internships with Jones Lang LaSalle Commercial Real Estate and Colliers International. After graduating in 2015, he accepted a position as an associate with Voit Commercial Real Estate, where he analyzed industrial and office property market trends and guided investors and potential landlords and tenants. Subsequently, he joined Pacifica Senior Living as a finance and acquisitions associate, managing half of the company's community portfolios.

In late 2018, Darren Critchlow became a development associate for Ryan Companies in Chicago, providing project analysis and financing services for the company's senior living and multi-family projects. He is also knowledgeable of the city’s complex development process, navigating regulations such as low-income housing tax credits.
